How to Sharpen Meat Grinder Blade?
Has your meat grinder’s performance come down due to blunt blades? Are you wondering about how to sharpen meat grinder blade? Then, here’s a simple procedure to do the sharpening.
Procedure to Sharpen Meat Grinder Blades
Follow the steps below
• Take a glass or mirror piece (approx. 1 foot X 1 foot) without any sharp edges or imperfections; it should have a relatively smooth surface.
• Wet the face of the glass by using water; keep 120-grit dry or wet sandpaper over the glass and stick it to the surface. Apply little water to assist in holding on to the surface.
• Detach the individual blade plates from the grinder.
• Wear gloves and hold the blade at a 45 degree angle. Now, draw the plate slowly over the paper in a rotating direction (similar to numeric eight shape); allow around 5 or 10 passes. This will sharpen the blades evenly.
• Ensure that the blade is evenly sharpened and repeat the process if there are any extra blade plates.
• Remove the 120-grit paper and place a 600-grit paper in the same way and repeat the process with each blade to smooth out the cutting edge and get a shiny surface.
• Wash the blades and allow them to dry before fixing it back.
The Bottom Line
This method to sharpen meat grinder blade can be used for the normal home meat grinders; for heavy duty commercial ones, get a professional sharpening.
